What's New...
I have just finished working
on a picture book called "Noah's garden".
It tells us the story of a young
boy called Noah who spends a long time, waiting for his baby sister,
Jessica. Jessica is very sick and needs care in the hospital. While
waiting for her, Noah plays in the hospital garden, with his GrandPa
and GrandMa..
It is a beautiful story about the
imaginary world of child paly, about the power of imagination and
love.
The story has been writen by a very talented writer, Mo
Johnson, who based the story on true events that touch a family
of friends. The book will be published by Walker
books Australia and should hit the shelves round Feb 2010....Stay
tuned for more information!!!!

My recent works on canvas...
Separately...I am also working
on a series of paintings inspired by the Australian landscape.
I am fascinated the power of light and how it can be represented.
I am using a set of techniques that involves layering very diluted
solutions of paints and mediums to try and represent the vibration
of light in the atmosphere and on surfaces.
I have
always felt a fascination with the conflict between the enduring
permanence of the landscape and the ephemeral passing of human life.
Contemplation of the landscape deepens the awareness of my own mortality
stirring the feelings of helplessness, loss and isolation that I
have been with me since I was a child.
My art is an attempt to take a grasp on reality
alleviating the mental suffering caused by an acute consciousness
of the passing of time.
By capturing and interpreting the landscape, I record my passage,
I loose myself in the permanence of the image, I achieve stillness
and peace.
My most current works have developed around
the intimate relationship between light and the landscape and explore
the theory that one's vision of the land exists only because of
the light that reveals it. A familiar environment suddenly becomes
strikingly dramatic and exceptionally beautiful under a particular
atmospheric occurrence. The light establishes patterns, shapes and
shadows that vibrate with the individual elements of that landscape.
This short-lived transitory vision (of
the landscape) is a consistent recurring reminder of the passing
of time and that only the full appreciation of the present moment
allows one to experience eternity.
